Confidence

Confidence is a beautiful state of mind. When I have it, I look upon our complex and sometimes scary world with optimism.

With confidence I tend to put myself out there. I make it known what I want and I go for it.

So much is out of our control. I never know how the world will respond when I ask it for something. When I’m feeling confident I open up to the unknown and trust myself to make things work no matter what comes back at me.

Some days I feel very confident. Other days not so much.

Likewise, in some areas of my life I act with lots of confidence. In others I struggle to believe in myself.

I’d sure like to have more confidence, or to feel it more often.

What is confidence? And why does this fleeting feeling come and go? I want to better understand it so that I can bring about more confidence in my life.

Confidence is knowing you have the skills to do something well. This takes practice and preparation.

Confidence is trying again (and again) after you’ve failed. This takes patience and perseverance.

Confidence is understanding all you can do is your best. This takes perspective.

Confidence is believing you’re enough just as you are. This is love.

Bravery is also so important in building confidence because so often our fears hold us back from doing what we want or need to do.

Being brave means moving forward in spite of our fears. Oftentimes it takes bravery to try something for the first time, and from this we learn and we grow.

But it all comes back to love. Whether we love ourselves, or we love and are loved by others, it is love that shows us that we need nothing else in this life than that which we already have. With love it doesn't matter if you succeed or fail because you are loved just the same. It doesn't matter what others think because you are loved just the same.

Love is the foundation of true confidence.

I wish for love to find us all.
